Fixed Lens vs Interchangeable Lens & Freedom In Restrictions, Star Wars Night

Fixed Lens vs Interchangeable Lens

I’ve been trying to make this decision for a while. I’m saving up for an every day carry camera. You know. That one camera that will never leave my side. Sort of like my iPhone, but a full camera. My iPhone is always with me, but there are certain limitations with a super small sensor.

Too many choices can be a bad thing. I worry too much about choices.

So I’m trying to make the decision between a fixed lens every day camera or an interchangeable lens every day carry. I’m leaning towards fixed lens. I feel like having an ILC (interchangeable lens) camera would make me want to get more lenses and I wouldn’t be focusing on just taking photos, but rather I should buy a new lens or not. I wouldn’t be completely content with what I have. That brings me to a second point…

Freedom In Restrictions

I often find that I can have more freedom when there are more restrictions. I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. I like having rules. I used to work in retail, Aplle Retail, and there were tons of rules that we had to follow. I didn’t realize how much I liked the rules until I started working at a more corporate style salaried job with very few rules. It seemingly has more freedom here. I make my own schedule, I work where I want, I make my own rules. Turns out that it’s really hard to create your own rules and follow them, lol. Having all the rules of Apple, more restrictions, allowed me to just worry about work and working with the customers. I actually had less to worry about. One style isn’t better, they’re different.

It’s the same with cameras to me. Having a camera with more restrictions, fixed lens, would allow me to stop worrying about lenses and bodies and focus more on taking pictures. That’s why I’m leaning towards a fixed lens. Imposing restrictions will give me greater freedom because I can stop worrying.

The X100 is one of the most beautiful cameras around.

I’m mainly leaning towards the LX100 or X100S. The RX100 is still an option because it’s so insanely portable, but I would rather have a sensor larger than 1″.

Star Wars Night

Not much to say here except that Jenn and I are going to a Braves game this Saturday at the new Suntrust Park and it will be Star Wars night. I’ll definitely be bringing my A6000 and will be taking some good pictures. I will post them here when I’m done.

Phlebotomist, Camera Search Continues, Pretty Little Liars

So we had to take our little man to the phlebotomist today to get his annual blood draw. He did really well. He cried, but he stayed still and didn’t wail. He even stopped crying before she was done.

We were really proud of him for sure! We just wish that we didn’t have to trek all the way downtown. It’s not a bad drive, but Atlanta traffic isn’t fun. In fact, it was rated the 8th worst traffic in the world!

Add to the fact that I-85 just recently collapsed….yeah.

The Camera Search Continues

I’ve been looking for an every day camera that I can take everywhere. I want something that is fairly small, not pocketable, somewhat versatile and fun to use. You want a camera that makes you want to pick it up more. If a certain cameramakes you take more pictures, that’s a better camera than any other camera.

I’ve narrowed down my search to these cameras in order of my favorite to least favorite:

  1. Panasonic LX100 – My top choice. Great looking, good lens, good sensor, not a lot of megapixels, good price.
  2. Any Fuji I can afford – X70, X-E2 with lens, pretty much any Fuji. Fuji’s make amazing photos and their color is so unique.
  3. Olympus Pen-EP5 with Panasonic 20/1.7 lens – Small, classic style, small lens. I really like the micro four-thirds system for some reason. It’s tiny and priced well.

So I don’t know what I’ll get. It changes from hour to hour. I really just love looking at and taking about cameras. Right now the LX100 is the front runner. The search continues.

Pretty Little Liars

So…..Jenn and I have started watching……a show……..ok…….I’ll just say it. We are watching Pretty Little Liars again. There. It’s out. We used to watch the show, but stopped when it looked like there was no end in sight. Now that it’s almost over we picked back up.

The show doesn’t have the best writing or acting, but the main characters are good and the show moves at a good pace. Most teen shows like this usually rely on sex for every episode, but Pretty Little Liars is a whodunnit style show that has a lot of twists and turns. It’s pretty entertaining.

My pet peeve is that Emily only has 1 expression:

This is Emily’s expression for happy, sad, confused, melancholy, angry, and surprised.

Also, I had a dream that I was living in a town built by Muppets. There was a train. It made sense in the dream….
